Our final wrap-up of the local church within Campus Life has arrived! This week, we look into Clarksville Middle School and High School. Both schools have feel the impact of the local church being present in their school environment and connecting students to Jesus Christ.
Andy Bramer, Youth and Family Pastor of One Community Church and Campus Life leader, has been serving in campus ministry in the Clarksville community for 25 years.
Andy shared that FCA and YFC were once discouraged by some due to individuals not believing that church ministry was being done within school through snacks and games; however, he fully believes Campus Life is church in action within the doors of Clarksville.
“I don’t try to steal kids from other churches, if we can reach them and get them plugged into our church or a church, you know encourage them to go back to their church, but if they don’t have one they can certainly come to our church,” said Andy. “I look at it as the same, it’s an extension. We’ve called this FCA at times, we’ve called it Campus Life, you call it whatever you want- it’s church.”
After visiting Clarksville Campus Life, it was evident the faith Andy shared with each and every student that walked in the door. Students were provided with a drink and snack, while there was a large community of students, all of them gave praise to Andy for dedicating his time to visit them.
Twelfth grader Kor’DaeShawn has been attending Campus Life every week this school year and said that having Andy show up and be committed to his high school encourages him, as well as shows him the love that Christ has for us.
“It’s definitely made me feel like, since this nice man [Andy] that did not know me came and gave up his time to come talk to me, I can give up my time to come talk to others and make people feel welcome,” said Kor’DaeShawn.
He also mentioned that since coming to Campus Life, he lacked praying on a regular basis, now he prays often and sincerely to the Father for himself, family, and friends.
Also, Andy shared that many students feel intimidated attending a church service, so getting students to stay after school and fellowship tends to be more effective in their spiritual journey at this age. He said, “One of the reasons why I love Campus ministry is that it’s a non -threatening environment. Going to church is a big thing, staying after school for snacks and games- it’s pretty easy.”
All in all, God has allowed YFC ministry in Clarksville Middle School and High School to flourish this school year, as well as providing opportunities for the local church to serve consistently and lead young people to Jesus. We are excitedly anticipating what the Lord has in store for the rest of 2025!
